Ashton Lane's (not so) best kept secret

The Big Pub

Climb the stairs past Michael Lacey’s vibrant mural, and you’ll find The Big Pub, a space that feels like your favourite local pub had a stylish rendezvous with a late-night cocktail lounge. It’s the perfect mix of cosy and swanky, set right in the beating, cobblestoned heart of Glasgow’s Ashton Lane, where fairy lights twinkle overhead and the chatter from neighbouring pubs and restaurants spills into the air.

What makes The Big Pub special

The interior restaurant and seating area at the Ubiquitous Chip.

Freshly refurbished and graced with an original Jackson ‘Fae’ Pollock on the wall, the bar serves up a line-up as eclectic as its surroundings: seasonal and signature cocktails, a wide choice of beers on tap, and just about anything else you’d fancy - whether you’re gearing up for a night on the town or settling in for a low-key evening with friends.

An advertising image of 3 snack dishes and drinks sat on a table within the interior restaurant and seating area at The Ubiquitous Chip.

We pour our very own Du L’Alleé wines (in generous measures) and keep the soundtrack as fresh as the drinks. Expect an ever-changing playlist: maybe an Old Fashioned with smoky Blues on a rainy afternoon, or a Mojito to the rhythm of Cuban House as the lane outside buzzes into the evening.

From a quiet catch-up to a night where the hours slip away, The Big Pub is the perfect perch above one of Glasgow’s most atmospheric streets.
