Take a flight of stairs and step into the Upstairs Brasserie at The Ubiquitous Chip, where Glasgow’s favourite institution gets a playful twist. Perched on the mezzanine, you’ll find a casual, plant-filled oasis that’s a little different, a little daring, and oh-so creative.

What makes the Upstairs Brasserie special
Sit and watch the courtyard buzz below, or get cosy amidst the vivid, slightly abstract Colonsay paintings by Carol Patterson in the Brasserie. Whether it’s a quick lunch, a catch-up over cocktails, or a late-night feast, the Upstairs Brasserie has the perfect seat - and the perfect dish - for any occasion.
Here, sharing is the secret ingredient. Our experimental kitchen serves a parade of small and big plates, seasonally inspired and crafted from the finest local produce.
From The Chip’s own Venison Haggis, Neep & Tatties to Beer Battered Monkfish Cheeks with Taramasalata, every dish is packed with flavour, originality, and just a touch of whimsy.
Vegetarian? The Smoked Cauliflower with Almond Butter and Roast Jerusalem Artichoke with Salsify and Cavolo Nero are as imaginative as they are delicious.
Our bar and sommelier team have curated a drinks list to match every plate. Pair your Shetland Mussels in Tomato & Chilli Broth with a crisp white, or let a cocktail (or three) set the evening alight. Big sharing boards like the Charcuterie & Cured Seafood Platter or Whole Baked Camembert with Fried Potatoes and Bread & Dip are ideal for a leisurely nibble with friends.
Don’t forget dessert: from Orange Cake with Citrus Curd to Dark Chocolate & Peanut Pavé, each sweet treat comes with a perfectly paired tipple - from Pedro Ximénez to a warming Malt of the Month. For a cheeky nightcap, the Espresso Martini or Brandy Alexander hits just the right note.
